A broken water main that had shut down Mecklenburg County's judicial system for several hours was repaired Monday afternoon, allowing county officials to reopen the courthouse and resume court sessions.

The massive boilers in the basement of the county courthouse have been silenced, and the savings are already rolling in. In an effort to heat the courthouse and the county justice center more efficiently, new boilers have been installed in both buildings.
