Sewer spill blamed on pipe blockage

By: Alyssa LaRenzie A pipe blockage at a south Forsyth home caused a sewer spill on Friday, authorities said. According to the Forsyth County Water and Sewer Department, about 1,800 gallons of sewage spilled on the ground, and some gray water, or wastewater from household cleaning, reached a storm drain. An estimated 40,000 gallons of sewage spilled into Sarasota Bay today after a 20-inch sewer main ruptured on Gulf Stream Avenue in downtown Sarasota overnight.
